My first instructor / mentor was Mr. Reed Hobbs.
I was 9 years old when I took my first martial arts class in Harlingen, TX.
He changed my life, because he showed me how to become a better version of myself.
That led to an interest in training...
which became an obsession.
At 17, I was teaching martial arts full time and pursuing my dream of owning a martial arts school.
3 decades after that first class with Mr. Hobbs I've been incredibly blessed with amazing coaches, teachers and mentors.
The most recent is Mr. Kevin Nations, whose perspective and experience I credit with giving me distinctions that I would never otherwise have...
He too has helped me become a better version of myself.
In between these two individuals I have had dozens (maybe hundreds) of teachers, coaches, mentors, and role models...
Men and women whose clear example has played a significant part in what my life has now become.
I shudder to think what my life would look like without these people in my life.
And I'm deeply appreciative of what they have shown me...
As I endeavor to pay forward the lessons I've gleaned from our time together.
The moral?
Get a coach.
It will make your life the masterpiece you dream of.
