Chip Browne,   Since the Dawn of Human history, there have been Stories.   First they were Drawings on the Cave Wall...   Then Gesticulations and Words...   Stories like "How To Make Fire," and "Run When The Lion comes"...   They started as the Documentation of Past events, and Technical Explanations for How To Survive in The World...   Passed down so that future generations wouldn't have to face the same Pitfalls as their ancestors.   As Humanity Evolved, so did our Story Telling...   Layers of Poetry and Metaphor were added - the Hero's Journey - in an attempt to combine the transfer of Knowledge and Wisdom... with our Souls' search for meaning...   We live in a world based on Story...   The stories we are told by The Media... by our Friends and Family...   And the Stories we Tell Ourselves.   "Marketing" is simply a type of Story Telling...
